1 page, 7 x 4.5 inches, no place, unsigned, January 4, 1810, written just three months after being wounded in a duel with his foe Lord Castlereah, in full: "This is merely to acknowledge & to thank you for your letter of Wednesday. There is one sentence in the Coronation which I wish you had heard the Tenor, with whom you were conversing." Note: on September 21, 1809, Canning, then serving as the Foreign Secretary and Lord Castlereah, the British Minister of War, fought a duel in which Canning was struck by a bullet in the thigh. He resigned his office thereafter and only returned to politics upon the assassination of Spencer Percival. Very good condition.
