The official report of New York City's Landmarks Preservation Commission establishing the Soho-Cast Iron Historic District in Manhattan. The first 30 pages are a brief architectural and economic history of the area with an emphasis on the development of the use of cast iron architecture. Pages 31-172 comprise block by block descriptions of the buildings. Each building description lists the dates construction began and was completed, the architect, the builder, the original owner, the original use of the building, materials used in the facade, and the numbers of stories and bays. Contains appendix that lists the prominent architects represented in the district with a list of the buildings designed by them and background on each architect. Internally, a tight bright copy.
