Humorous Autographed Letter Signed in French. Emile LITTRE, 1801 - 1881.

Humorous Autographed Letter Signed in French

Paris: 1878.

1 page, 6.75 x 4.25 inches, Paris, May 3, 1878, untranslated, in response to a stranger who has requested an autograph. Littre writes that he does not like the idea of giving out his signature just for the sake of the autograph -- that he is very old, very busy, and does not want to waste precious time of which he has hardly any left. However, he sends the autograph anyway: "rejected in principle, but done in fact." Several pencil notations, but still in very good(+) condition.
