1 page, 8.5 x 8 inches, Consulate of the United States of America for the Kingdom of Wurtemberg at Stuttgart, attesting to the authenticity of the signature "Zimmerle," "...Judge of the Court of Weinsberg in the above named kingdom is true and genuine and that full faith and confidence is due him as such," February 19, 1862, with the original embossed seal still attached. Natural folds and mounting remnants on the back; still in very good condition.
American diplomat and inventor. During the American Civil War, President Lincoln appointed him Consul to the Kingdom of Wurtemberg at Stuttgart, in what many historians believe might have been a covert operation.
