Rare signed music contract from the vaults of Hometown-Village Music

New York: 1949.

1 page, 11 x 8.5 inches, Hometown Village Music, 1619 Broadway, New York City, July 29, 1949, whereby Fred Wise and fellow Hall-of-Fame songwriters Al Frisch and Sid Prosen agree to assign their composition titled "The Longer We're Together" to the Robert Music Corporation, with the understanding that they will abide by the regulations set forth by the SPA. All three have boldly signed this contract (in full) under the caption: "We are the composers." Fred Wise and Al Frisch were a successful songwriting team in the 1940s and early 1950s. Despite their immense success, they are both virtually unobtainable in autographic material. Boldly signed, natural folds, very good condition.

American Hall-of-Fame songwriter who wrote top hits for Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Tony Bennett, and other big names before becoming one of the most prolific songwriters for Elvis Presley. He contributed heavily to Presley's movie soundtracks and provided over 30 songs used in "King Creole," "Wild in the Country," "Follow that Dream," "Kid Galahad," "This is Living," "Fun in Acapulco," "Kissin' Cousins," and "Roustabout." He also wrote the song "Wooden Heart" which Elvis sang in the film "G.I. Blues." Wise, a longtime sufferer of depression, is sadly remembered for committing suicide at the kitchen table of his home in front of his wife and children. He was 50 years old.
