1 page, 6.5 x 7.5 inches, Hurlingham, September 28, 1836. This four-line, third-person note was written by the 1st Marquess Wellesley to a Mrs. Bates about an account of his wife, in full: "Lord Wellesley presents his compliments to Mrs. Bates; & begs leave to inclose the last account of Lady Wellesley, which he has received from Lady Stafford." Dry-mounted on foxed white paper. Accompanied by a foxed contemporary lithograph of a bust statue of Wellesley.
