This original print by New York artist Clara Tice features an elephant and a giraffe. Made in 1921, the image features the pair in mid-run amidst tall grass, with the elephant leading. Tice beautifully depicts the two animals with dynamic lines and beautiful colors. The print is in excellent condition with no chips and tears. Textured edges from original thick paper. Signed by artist in pencil. Clara Tice (1888-1973) was an American illustrator and artist who lived in Greenwich Village during a time of avant-garde artistic activity. Although somewhat well-known for her erotic drawings and prints of nudes, as well as her bohemian lifestyle, she remains relatively obscure within art history more generally. This image from later in her life speak to her personal passion for animals. Her book "ABC Dogs" was likely inspired by the many dogs she owned and cared for throughout her lifetime. This delightful print provides insight into the artist's personality.
