This beautiful pocket map of Europe depicts the physical geography of the entire continent and extends from Norway and Sweden south to include Algeria in Africa, turkey and parts of Syria, Lebanon and Israel. Includes Iceland. Notes important roads, cities, shipping lines, and topography with countries and regions color-coded. The left and right borders include 24 engraved views depicting major European cities. These feature Varscovie, Vienne, St. Petersburg, Lisbonne, Berlin, Paris, Naples, Rome, Constantinople, Mayence, Amsterdam, Milan, Venise, Bruxelles, Athens, Turin, Berne, Londres, Madrid, Alger, Dresde, Stockholm, Alexandrie and Dublin. In good condition with some wear along folds and minor rips along fold edges. Slight toning along folds. Minor foxing. The map folds into original cardboard cover titled "CarteGenerale de l'Europe". The map is created by the French geographer John Baptiste Louis Charle and engraved by Charles Dyonnet (c. 1822 - c. 1880), who engraved numerous maps for many of the most prominent 19th French cartographic publishers.
