This charming miniature map of "Turkey in Asia" covers the regions of Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Holy Land, Palestine, Israel and parts of Egypt. Extends from the Black Sea south to the Red Sea and from the Mediterranean east to the Caspian Sea. Incredibly detailed, the map notes several important cities and towns with beautifully rendered topography. The map is in very good condition. Original centerfold.
Pierre Duval (1618-1683) was the nephew and apprentice of Nicolas Sanson. His widow Marie Desmartz Duval and two daughters continued his business in Paris into the early 18th century. This map was published his " Le Monde Terrestre".
