Juan de Palafox y Mendoza was Bishop of Puebla Mexico from 1640 to 1655. He was against the conversion methods of Jesuits in Mexico and placed an interdict on them in 1647. In response, the Jesuits excommunicated Bishop Palafox y Mendoza. In 1655, the Jesuits and Bishop Palafox formerly ended their disagreement and he emigrated to Spain.
