Second edition, published without the map which was in the first edition. Author, emigrated from France and served in the United States Army as assistant topographical engineer from 1817 to 1829, when he was promoted to topographical engineer. He resigned from the army in 1832. Poussin returned to France and served as French minister to the United States from 1848 to 1849. The first volume is a history of colonial North America, including the British colonies, New France, and Louisiana. Howes P-519. Sabin 64735.
