An important contribution to modern cytology dealing specifically with development and fertilization, and with the problem of the bearers of heredity. The author shared the view that the hereditary particles (genes) in the cell are borne by the chromosomes, and that the chromosomal individuality is maintained. Vejdowsky was professor and director of the Zoological Institute of the Bohemian University at Prague (DSB Supplement).
