Item #260686 Framed Autographed Letter Signed on personal stationery. George KAUFMAN, 1889 - 1961.

Framed Autographed Letter Signed on personal stationery

New York: 1942.

1 page, 11 x 8.5 inches, New York, "Saturday," no date but the "Date Rec'd" stamp indicates August 10, 1942. In this brief letter to a theatrical agent, the American playwright mentions receiving a play from another writer, in full: "I ran into Shiner the other night, and he said he would send me his play. How do you feel about that? George Kaufman." Several inches below, he adds, "Or am I wrong about you representing him?" Two horizontal folds, small file hole in the upper left corner, light browning along the right edge, and faint remnants of erased pencil notations at the bottom right; a very good(-) letter matted and framed beautifully. Float mounted in white beside a 8 x 5.25-inch photo of Kaufman dressed in a blazer and tie, looking intently at the camera. Double-matted in black and white and set in a sturdy gold frame measuring 18 x 21 inches.
