Exceedingly rare complete set of storyboards for the classic 1937 Betty Boop cartoon short "Ding Dong Doggie," remarkably drawn by Fleischer artist and animator Tom Johnson. 8.5 x 11 inches, graphite pencil (with some highlighting in red and blue), consisting of seven highly detailed pages (more than forty frames) with descriptive motion captions. Story Line: Impressed by a dalmatian fire dog he sees, Pudgy goes against Betty's orders and follows the fire dog to a fire at the general store. Pudgy tries to help out, but the fire takes on an (animated) life of its own and gets the better of Pudgy. In the end, Pudgy is happy to run back home to Betty Boop, who gives him a good spanking for disobeying her. Additional information is written in the hand of Dave Fleischer who uses a pencil color code to keep track of the productions progress. A red check mark indicates that the scene was animated; blue indicates that the background was complete; green lets everybody involved in the project know that the scene was sent to cameraman Al Windley. A wonderful item from the Golden Age of animation. Gently worn but still in very good condition.
