The "Boy Wonder" at the Battle of Leningrad and a longtime favorite of the veteran core of World War II. He was literally groomed for a life among the elite of the U.S.S.R. military, having lost most of his family during the war. He emerged in 1972 as a Commander of an Army Division in Moscow, and in 1977 he was promoted General of the Army. However, in 1984, to the sensation of the Soviet Core, Govorov was declared Deputy Minister of Defense.
