Number one of an edition of 100 copies. John Greenwood joined the Continental army in Massachusetts as a fifer. He later served as a scout in Benedict Arnold's expedition against Canada and as a soldier in the Battle of Trenton. Soon after that battle, his enlistment ended. For the remained of the war, Greenwood served as a privateersman. He served on ships that sailed mostly in the West Indies and was a prisoner-of-war four times.
