1 page, 10 x 16 inches, City of Washington, October 1, 1860 -- a document with a secretarial signature of James Buchanan," in part: "A Bounty Land Grant to certain Officers and Soldiers who have engaged in the Military Service of the United States, for Michael Finn, Private Company A third Regiment United States Infantry, for service in the Apache Indian Disturbances." As was the case with many poor soldiers, Finn signed over his title for 160 acres of land located in Omaha, Nebraska to a land speculator. Evenly toned with the original Presidential seal still affixed; partial tearing along the heavy vertical folds. Very good(-) condition.
