1 page, 10.25 x 8 inches, adorned with an original pen-and-ink drawing of a gentleman with a top hat and cane, New York City, December 31, 1949. Written to powerful attorney and political power-broker Frederic R. Coudert, in part: "Many gratitudes for your note regarding our mutual friend Cecil Roberts...It is always a delight to me to meet you for your friendship...I hold very precious. May this New Year bring you all the blessings. Note: Cecil Roberts was a fellow playwright who ended up working for Lord Halifax, the British Ambassador to the United States during World War II. The Coudert law firm represented Great Britain's legal interests in the United States for close to 75 years. Natural folds plus tiny creases on the lower corners; very good condition.
