Slim 4to, original brown cloth boards, expertly rebacked with modern brown cloth and paper label, edges of corners worn, back cover with a small area of light soiling near top, page margins uncut. Brooklyn, 1868. Limited First Edition -- one of 110 copies. A scarce book, with the last copy sold at auction recorded in 1927.

The text is mostly on events that took place during the American Revolution in Kings County. Most of the lithographs illustrate buildings in Kings County that had a role in the American Revolution. Map is of Brooklyn during the Revolution War by General Jeremiah Johnson. The author, Thomas W. Field, was a teacher in Williamsburgh and a school principal in Brooklyn. Later, from 1873 to 1881, Field was superintendent of public instruction in Brooklyn. Also, he was a local historian who authored several books.
