New York: Asher & Adams, 1872.
Atlas. Folio. 18 x 13 inches. Original black cloth with leather spine and corners. Gilt lettered front cover and the spine has a gilt title "New Atlas of the US". Atlas is complete but with some irregular pagination. 46 maps in total with multiple map listings per page. No map listed for pp. 37/38. Two bonus map not listed in the index: pp. 9/10 "Rhode Island" and pp. 107/108 "Portions of Utah, Colorado and Wyoming". Slight foxing to Texas maps and Florida map reinforced along the entire edge. Statistical index and advertisements as issued. Although the cover and spine have been repaired, this is a nice copy of a hard-to-find Atlas.
A classic American regional atlas with lovely original color and a focus on Railroads, routes and stations. Asher & Adams were publishers based in Washington and New York in the late 19th century who produced some of the most detailed and colorful atlases of the period.
