2 pages, 11 x 8.5 inches, personal letterhead, Bridgeport, Connecticut, 1916. Written to prominent clergyman Walter L. Bennett, conveying his wish to assist the Reverend in various projects, in small part: "...I beg you to take the enclosed small sum as a 'nest egg' for the fund for the promotion of evening services...I promise to help you in any way that I can...As I understand it - your committee has the right to raise and expend $100 without getting consent of church. Suppose we do that for a starter, and when that is gone...the work may be going so well that the church may be glad to receive more...This is your calling and If ever a man had a calling, you have. He has called and calls you so that you will be able to help and sustain in soul and body..." This was written at a time when Northrop believed that religion was the catalyst for a successful society. Natural folds; near fine condition.

Important 20th century American architect best known for showcasing Colonial Revival -- a style based on Georgian architecture built in America in the 18th century.
