Item #245764 Typed Letter Signed. Andy ROONEY, 1919 - 2011.

Typed Letter Signed

Rowayton, CT: 1990.

1 page, 11 x 8.5 inches, Rowayton, Connecticut, February 25, 1990. Written while under suspension from "60 Minutes" without pay by then-CBS News President David Burke in part: "...When I was working for Godfrey, we got the little slip of paper with the loyalty statement that we were to sign. 'Are you now or have you ever been...?' and 'Have you ever worked for any one who was?' I sent mine back saying I had no idea what Mr. Paley's or Mr. Stanton's political affiliations were so I couldn't say whether I'd ever worked for a Communist or not. They didn't get mad. They didn't fire me. They didn't do anything and I never signed it. It's not clear what will happen next but I expect that the tidiest way for me to clear my name is to deny myself the pleasure of stomping off when they ask me and go back on the air on 60 minutes..." Boldly signed and in near fine condition.

American radio and television personality best remembered for his appearances on "60 minutes."
