Autumn/Winter 1974-75 Croquis, Plate 72
Paris: Christian Dior, 1974.
Pair of 2 prints. Ink, watercolor and gouache on xerograph. Original annotations in pen and fabric swatch attached with staples. Sheet measures 13" x 8.5".
This pair of 2 original croquis from the designer Christian Dior features the elements of an outfit from the Autumn/Winter 1974-1975 collection, when the house was under designer Marc Bohan. These croquis were made from reproductions of original drawings, which were then hand-colored with ink, watercolor, and gouache. One shows a long blue dress in a stunning cerulean. The second presents a matching tailored blazer complemented by a black fox stole. Both include swatches of the appropriate blue fabric stapled to the bottom of the sheet. On the latter print, two annotations in pen comment on the color and model. These sketches were produced in a limited quantity and presented to potential clients in attendance at the Paris Couture shows held by Dior in the spring and fall of each year. These examples are in good condition and are wonderful for any lover of fashion.
