Alexander Gunn, a Cleveland industrialist, was a part-time resident of the Zoar commune from 1879 to 1901. The Zoar commune was founded in Ohio in 1817 by German immigrants. In excerpts from his note-books, which he wrote from Zoar from 1889 to 1901, he writes of impressions of life there. In 1898, the members of Zoar decided to disband the commune and sell the communal property to its members including Alexander Gunn. Gunn also writes on his travels to England, Italy, Egypt, and the Holy Land. Number 207 of a limited edition on hand-made paper.
