Extremely scarce clipped signature measuring 1.5 x 3 inches. Signed in full with fine, dark handwriting. No place, no date, circa 1825. Very good condition.
First physician in America to be appointed superintendant of the Asylum for the Insane. When it opened in 1818, it was the first hospital in New England and only the fourth special institution for the treatment of the mentally ill in America. He is the father of acclaimed physicians Morrell and Jeffries Wyman.
