1 page, 3.5 x 8.5 inches, no place, no date, circa 1870. Fine signature and salutation removed from a letter: "very sincerely yours, F. N. Crouch." Vertical folds; very good condition.

English composer and cellist who emigrated to the United States in 1849, settling in Richmond Virginia. During the Civil War, Crouch took up arms and played the trumpet for the Confederacy. He is best known for the composition "Kathleen Mavourneen" as well for two operas he completed in America.
