Stunning and unusual atlas of Mexico. Eleven of the thirteen maps show Mexico in various ways: politically, religiously, ethnographically, by transportation, public institutions, agriculture and geological features. Two additional maps show the Valley of Mexico and Mexico City and its environs. Each map is bordered by exquisitely rendered vignettes, pertaining to the map's theme. Accompanying volume of text goes into extensive detail of each individual map including historical and cultural information, geographic descriptions and demographics. Rarely sold as a set, the text is a wonderful companion piece to this beautiful atlas. Garcia Cubas (1832-1912) was a Mexican geographer, mapmaker, writer and publisher.
