Small oblong 4to (measures 11 x 7.5 inches), in original purple cloth with a large gold image of a reindeer pulling a man in a boat (edgeworn and with faded spine; stain on cover which is also detached but present). Stockholm: P. B. Eklund, 1871. Reprint in reduced format of the 1866 original. A good copy with only light foxing in the margins of a few plates.
Pettersson was an army officer who, in the 1860s, traveled through the wild areas of northern Sweden among the indigenous Sami people.
