Accomplished hand colored lithograph depicting the Marquis de Lafayette by Francois Seraphin Delpech, after a painting by Antoine Maurin (1793-1860). Delpech's portrait lithographs are in the collections of Britain's National Portrait Gallery and the Louvre. In very good condition.
Francois-Seraphin Delpech (1778-1825) was a French artist and lithographer. Delpech served as an art critic for the Mercure de France during the period of the First French Empire. In 1818, he opened a printmaking studio in Paris. He produced lithographic portraits of a number of leading figures of his time.
