Antwerp: Henrico y Cornelio Verdussen, 1709. Third edition. Very good (+).
This very rare pocket atlas describes the world at the end of the 17th century. Published in the former Spanish Netherland by the Catholic cleric Don Francisco De Aefferden, it is uncommon for its combination of Spanish text and French titles. The text is interdispersed with lovely miniature maps, including a map folding in three of the celestial planisphere. "Mapa general de la Tierra" missing, as is common of known editions of this atlas. Don Francisco De Aefferden (1653--1709) was a Belgian cartographer based in Antwerp. This beautiful atlas is a rare and desirable item for any collector.
