3 pages, Rupell Square, Nov. 23, 1824. The first two pages (front and back) are lightly toned and measure 7 x 4.5 inches. The third page is cropped to 5,24 x 4 inches and dry-mounted. Signed "Tho Lawrence," this letter expresses regret for being unable to meet with a couple and attempts to arrange a future rendez-vous, in part: "...I am very sorry that from early and unavoidable engagements tomorrow, I am obliged to postpone the pleasure of receiving M. Sully and yourself..." Includes a 4.5 x 3.5-inch contemporary mezzotint portrait of Lawrence holding a medallion. Heavily foxed on the white borders; good condition.
