Report on experiments made in 1876 and 1877 to determine the nature and cause of fever. Wood undertook the researches represented here as a result of his pioneering studies of sunstroke. Wood held chairs of botany, therapeutics and neurology at the University of Pennsylvania and is best known for his study, A Treatise on Therapeutics (GM 1972), where the effect of various drugs in small doses was first discussed.
