Boston: Thomas & Andrew, 1796. Map. Uncolored engraving. Image measures 7.5" x 9.25". This fine early antique map appeared in Jedidiah Morse's "The American Universal Geography" published in 1796. It depicts North Carolina and South Carolina in beautiful detail, noting roads, chapels, court houses, meeting houses, counties, rivers, towns, mountains and other topographic features. Several Indian villages are also noted throughout. The maps in Morse's Geography were considered to be among the best example of early American map making. The...
