The researches here are based on 358 dissections and 1960 clinical cases. Through the introduction of the "numerical method" or medical statistics, Louis was instrumental in establishing medicine as an exact science. And it is primarily the accomplishment that this represents which has earned for Louis his enduring reputation as one of the greatest clinicians and pathologists in medical history.
