A group of 3 pamphlets, 8vo, unbound, each in a marbled paper folder. An extraordinary ensemble of three connected pamphlets, all of the greatest rarity, none of them being represented in S.G.C., the Osler, Cushing, and Waller Collections. Even the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris possesses a copy only of the first one of the three. Not in Preksch. The two physicians, Savarin of Lille, and Andrieux of Montpellier, in the spirit of the revolutionary period in which they lived and wrote, appeal to the States General and the later National Assembly to take steps in order to promote public health and well being. That is to say, they praise a certain "cleaning powder" of a Chevalier de Godernaux, which has the power to effect the discharge of urinary calculi, and which, they state, has already been adopted by the governments in other countries. They urge the republican government of France to do likewise in order to clear the overcrowded hospitals of the country of 10 twelfths of their patients and have other salutary consequences all around.
