Inscribed on the half-title page to theater critic John Simon: "...who kisses the fate of our blind dates, with much thought, admiringly, Jerzy, January 1978." Above the inscription, Kosinski made a small drawing and wrote a quote from E.M. Cioran: "Our pleasures like our pains come from the undue importance we attribute to our experience." Kosinski also signed his full name diagonally across the title page.
