In this letter, Johnson, campaigning for Vice President, thanks a Texas attorney for his support, in part: "...Your letter and those newspaper stories made me realize how much I owe to you personally. The wonderful success we enjoyed would never have been possible without your splendid help - and I am grateful to you beyond words...Perhaps there might me some small way that I could repay you for the loyalty and confidence you have so wonderfully expressed in me."
