An early edition, not in Brunet, published only 16 years after the author's death. In writing of Patin's correspondence, Packard noted that Patin "did not write his letters for publication ... It is to this that ... the great value of the correspondence is due. ... Patin's correspondents were chiefly physicians who were, like him, interested in literary matters." Packard.
