New York: 1889.
A.L.S. 8vo., 3 pages, letterhead of the New York Sun, March 28th 1889, to poet George M. Mayer, in part: "...I have not the time necessary to read your two poems critically through, but I have read them enough to give you the advice which Horace lays down: Keep them for a few years, and then try again..." After rambling on for close to a page and a half Dana refocuses: "I should have said at the beginning that the length of each prevents their publication in the Sun." Mild toning on the second page, otherwise in very good condition.
