General Francis Marion was a native of South Carolina who served as an officer throughout the American Revolution. The 2nd South Carolina regiment was commanded by Marion during the attack on Savannah in 1779. Marion engaged the British troops often in South Carolina from 1779 until the British evacuation of Charleston in 1782. General Peter Horry served under General Marion. The text is based on actual experiences and Horry's recollections. Horry provided the manuscript to Parson Mason Weems who added additional material. This is the rare second edition.
