This is a beautiful rare map of New York State issued by Ensign, Bridgman & Fanning. Denotes towns, major routes and topographical features, all in beautiful detail. Includes three beautiful large views depicting Niagara Falls from the Canadian side, a bird's eye view of New York and a view of New York City from Union Square. Also included are portraits of Robert Fulton, Philip Schuyler, Peter Stuyvesant and De Witt Clinton. Two inset maps of Buffalo and New York City are featured along the bottom. Several tables are included throughout, with important information about New York, including special laws, population tables, agriculture production, religious denominations, history, objects of interest, etc. Map is in acceptable condition. Top portion of map, including most of the title is missing. Lower left corner also missing. Includes several repairs near top and along margins. Lined with linen. Ensign, Bridgman & Fanning, publishers based in New York were successors to Thayer, Bridgman and Fanning. This map, a fine example of their work, is extremely rare with no available copies on the market. Possibly the only other copy of this map is at the New York State Library in Albany.
