The Memorialists petition both houses of Congress to end mail delivery on the Sabbath.

Broadside. 10 1/2 inches x 12 1/2 inches. Baltimore, Maryland, circa 1829, issued at the height of the national debate on whether mail delivery should take place on Sunday. "...The evils resulting from this violation of the Sabbath have increased from year to year until they have reached an extent alarming both to the friends of morality and of a free government. Your Memorialists have witnessed this increasing immorality with deep regret. Your Memorialists deem it unnecessary to urge upon the Congress of the United States the obligation of observing the Lord's day of protecting the people in their religious privileges." Usual folds with fraying at the borders, otherwise very good. Docketed and dated on verso.
