Early candid photograph taken backstage

Philadelphia: 1944. unbound. Scarce 1944 original 10 x 8-inch photograph depicting a three-quarter-length image of "Satchmo" in his dressing room backstage at the Earle Theatre in Philadelphia. Armstrong is caught by the photographer smiling as he wipes down his trademark Selma Trumpet. Though there is no back stamp, we believe the photo was taken by Maurice Seymour. Small stain on the back that barely shows through -- still in very good condition.

Iconic American jazz trumpeter and singer from New Orleans, Louisiana.
