Old Greenwich, CT: 1935. unbound. 1 page, 10.5 x 7.25 inches, Old Greenwich, Connecticut, dated "Friday," no year, circa 1935. In this petulant letter, Van Loon simultaneously thanks his correspondent for lunch and complains about the other guests, with handwritten corrections in pen, in part: "...thanks for the lunch. I would deduct it from Dorothy's salary for she got us into it. I thought I had better take the Father for a bit of air. He was terribly worried about my blood pressure and insisted I go to the doctor. I had to go there anyway and it was interesting to observe that my self discipline had make the damn thing go from its normal I50 to I76 but after half an hour with my civilized doctor I was back to I56. Which shows etc etc...but it was a most interesting experiment. That church is a remarkable organization. It seems able to swallow everything and therefore probably needs God and Devil to keep going..." Two horizontal folds; small closed tear on the lower right corner. Good condition.
