War-date letter signed by the Union Brigadier General -- his very last military order, assisting Admiral Porter in his escape from the Ozarks, after which Stone was imprisoned without charges and forced out of the service by political enemies, in part: "...he will not send any...tonight, to interfere with your chances of getting off the Ozark." Discolored left margin; very good(-) condition.
