Autographed Letter Signed in French
1871.
2 pages (front and back), 8.5 x 5.25 inches, no place, September 22, 1871. Elegant letter signed "Cosima" by the daughter of Franz Liszt, second wife of Richard Wagner, and director of the Bayreuth Festival for 31 years. This letter thanks a friend for sending her clothing measurements and giving her carte blanche for both color and make of an item of clothing. She also writes that the children's maid has gone away leaving her to do the washing, hairdressing, clothing, playing, teaching, running up and down stairs like a rat ("...je lave, je coiffe, j'habille, je joue, j'enseigne, je cours comme un rat a travers les escaliers..."). She ends with a request for used foreign stamps for her daughter Loulou's collection. Natural folds; very good(+) condition.
