London: J. Booth, 1812.
Map. Engraving with original hand color. Image measures 16.5" x 26.5".
Large elegant reference map of Asia showing regions discussed in Major Price's memoir. The format of the map is simplified with no elevation shown but rather, an emphasis on rivers and waterways. Covers from the Crimea, down to the Arabian Sea, part of the Philippines and Korea and up to Siberia. Margins are cropped, very small tears to bottom edge and small chip to upper left margin and original folds as issued. In David Price's Chronological retrospect. Major Price was an officer in the East India Company and an orientalist. Samuel John Neele came from a family of engravers and publishers based in London and they produced many maps. This is an excellent example of their work.
