Signed by the Revolutionary War officer and aide to Benedict Arnold, as Mayor of New York, in part: "...Let the plaintiff in the above Cause, Shew [sic] Cause of Action and why the Bail should not be mitigated before me at my Chambers situated in Pine Street..." Also signed on verso by Judge Richard Riker, a lenient jurist and first proponent of rehabilitative sentencing, for whom the notorious Riker's Island is named. Small split on center fold at top; lower left corner clipped. Very good(-) condition.
