The first volume of this set was completed and first published in 1797. The second volume was not completed and published until 1818. This 1818 edition is the first completed edition with two volumes. The author, a member of the noted Trumbull family of Connecticut, was a graduate of Yale College and for almost sixty years a Congregational clergyman in North Haven, Connecticut.
