2 pages on "United States Lines" letterhead, 8 x 5 inches, Claridge Hotel, Southampton, England, November 22, 1953. Written while temporarily blacklisted by the HUAC, in small part: "...I meant to call you before I sailed but - things got too hectic. At any rate, a favor, please. Nov. 25 is my mother's birthday. I need you to get 2 tickets for 'Solid Gold Cadillac.' Call George S. Kaufman for me...he might help. Of course, God knows when this will reach you..." Accompanied the original signed handwritten envelope, from which the stamps have been trimmed. The letter has one horizontal fold and is in very good condition.
